Job Summary
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) provides Clinical Logistics Transport Services across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service.
This role supports the safe transport and distribution of pathology samples, blood products, medical consumables, mail, and stock items across NHS Wales healthcare sites including hospitals, GP practices, pharmacies, opticians, and dental surgeries.
The service handles:
120,000+ items of mail/medical notes weekly
5+ million movements of blood and pathology samples annually
⚠ This role requires an HGV Category C licence and CPC certification.
Key Responsibilities
Main Duties
Manage and control stock items in stores centres
Safely transport and distribute:
Pathology and blood products
Secure/non-secure stationery
Laundry
Medical consumables (needles, syringes, containers, etc.)
Deliver and collect items from NHS healthcare facilities
Ensure compliance with:
ADR regulations
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Legislative and safety standards
Provide excellent customer service
Maintain safe driving standards across South Wales
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
- Driving a range of vans
- Customer service experience
- Strong geographical knowledge of the service area
- HGV Category C licence
- HGV CPC qualification
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of Moving & Handling
- Awareness of Health & Safety regulations
Desirable
- ADR awareness
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Welsh language skills
