Job Summary
Position: Specialty Grade Doctor – Ophthalmology
Applications are invited from suitably qualified ophthalmologists for a substantive, full-time position at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will contribute to a comprehensive clinical service including outpatient clinics, high-volume cataract surgery, and Eye Casualty sessions. The role involves participation in extended services, including evening and weekend rotas.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide general ophthalmology services
- Deliver high-volume cataract surgery
- Participate in outpatient clinics and inpatient services
- Undertake Eye Casualty sessions
- Contribute to evening and weekend extended services on a rota basis
- Participate in departmental management duties
- Support audit and research activities
- Work collaboratively within a busy ophthalmic teaching department

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
Full GMC registration
FRCOphth Part 1 or equivalent
Skills & Experience
Minimum 4 years at StR level in Ophthalmology or equivalent
Relevant ophthalmic procedural skills including:
YAG laser
Retinal laser
Intravitreal injections
Evidence of participation in clinical audit or research
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Work Authorization
Must have current UK professional registration (GMC)
Subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
Must meet UKVI Skilled Worker requirements if sponsorship is required
Visa Sponsorship
